Why you Might Actually Be an Imposter, and Why That’s Ok
I’d never heard of imposter syndrome until quite recently, perhaps only in the past five or so years. It seems like a new concept, and an increasingly popular one. And unfortunately, it seems like the body of people who experience imposter syndrome is also growing.
Imposter syndrome is the feeling that you don’t belong to a certain group, that you lack the right qualifications to be able to identify with a certain position of status, title, or group of people.
Imposter syndrome tells us that whatever it is we think we’d like to do, or doing right now, we somehow don’t deserve it. That soon enough people will find out how much of a hack we are, and they’ll call us out for it. Or they’ll stop paying attention to us. They’ll move on and forget about us.
